Heldword.com/obituary (the "Service") is operated by Peraven LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company doing business as Heldword. We built this tool to help families and individuals write meaningful obituaries during one of life's most difficult moments. We take the trust you place in us seriously.

What Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways:
Information You Provide
When you use the Service, you submit personal and biographical information through our intake form — including names, dates, locations, family relationships, and personal details about the person being memorialized. This information is used solely to generate your obituary draft and is not permanently stored.
If you choose to provide your email address at checkout, we collect that along with your name for the purposes described in Section 5.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit heldword.com, standard analytics tools collect information such as pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, and referring URLs. This data is aggregated and anonymous — it tells us how the site is used, not who you are.
Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store or have access to your full payment details, including credit card numbers. We do retain your email address and a record of your transaction (date, amount, and Stripe transaction ID) for order fulfillment, refund processing, and legal compliance.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Generate your personalized obituary draft
- Process your payment and fulfill your order
- Respond to refund requests
- Send you service updates, if you opted in at checkout
- Understand how the Service is used and improve it over time
- Comply with legal and financial obligations
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use the content you submit to train AI models.
How We Store and Protect Your Information
The biographical information you enter into the intake form is processed to generate your obituary and is not permanently stored in our systems. It is not retained in our database after your session ends.
Purchase records — including your email address and Stripe transaction details — are retained for the duration required by applicable tax and financial reporting laws, typically seven years, and for as long as necessary to process potential refunds.
If you opted in to email communications at checkout, your name and email address are retained until you unsubscribe, plus a reasonable wind-down period.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we do retain. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access.
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you promptly in accordance with applicable law, including the Pennsylvania Breach of Personal Information Notification Act.
Email Communications
If you provided your email address at checkout, you opted in to receive occasional updates about new tools and services from Heldword. We will not send advertising, sell your address, or contact you beyond what you agreed to.

Third-Party Service Providers
We work with a small number of trusted third parties to operate the Service:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Google Analytics / Google Ads — site analytics and advertising measurement
- Anthropic — large language model provider that generates your obituary draft based on the information you submit. Your content is shared with Anthropic solely for generation purposes. Under our commercial API agreement with Anthropic, your inputs are not used to train AI models.
We do not share your information with any other third parties.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of information we hold about you. To make a request, contact us at support@heldword.com and we will respond promptly.
We do not sell personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We collect the following categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email address), biographical information you provide, and payment transaction records. This information is collected to provide the Service, process payments, respond to refund requests, and send service updates where you have opted in. We share information only with the third-party service providers listed in Section 7.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, restrict, or erase your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We process personal data on the basis of contract performance (to deliver the Service you purchased) and legitimate interest (to improve the Service and comply with legal obligations). Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the Service, please contact us at support@heldword.com and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
