Acceptance of Terms
By using the Service, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time — the most current version will always be available at heldword.com/terms. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
What the Service Does
The Heldword Obituary Tool helps you create a personalized obituary by guiding you through a series of questions and generating a written draft based on your responses. Output is produced with the assistance of AI writing technology provided by Anthropic, a third-party large language model provider.
The result is intended as a starting point — a draft for you to review, edit, and make your own. AI-generated content may contain errors. Always verify names, dates, and facts before publishing.
This is not a professional, legal, or medical document, and Peraven LLC makes no warranty that the output will meet any specific requirement or standard.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By proceeding, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
Payment
Access to your generated obituary requires a one-time payment. The current price is displayed before you begin and again before payment is collected. The price you see is the price you pay — there are no additional fees, subscriptions, or upsells. Pricing is subject to change at any time, but any change will not affect purchases already completed.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Peraven LLC does not store or have access to your full payment details, including credit card numbers.
Refunds
If you are not satisfied with your generated obituary for any reason, contact us at support@heldword.com within 10 days of your purchase with the email address used at checkout. We will issue a full refund — no questions asked.
Upon refund, your access to the Service will be revoked; content you have already downloaded or copied is yours to keep. After 10 days, purchases are final. If you believe exceptional circumstances apply beyond the 10-day window, contact us at support@heldword.com and we will review your situation.
Refunds are processed through Stripe and may take up to 10 business days to appear on your statement.
Your Content and Data
The information you enter into the Service is used solely to generate your obituary. Form inputs are not permanently stored — they are processed to generate your obituary and are not retained in our database after your session ends.
We retain your email address and purchase record only where necessary to fulfill your order, process a potential refund, or comply with legal and financial obligations. Purchase records are retained for the duration required by applicable tax and financial reporting laws. If you opt in to email communications at checkout, we additionally retain your name for that purpose.
We do not sell your information. We do not use your inputs to train AI models. Your content is shared with our AI provider solely for generation purposes and is not used to train their models under our commercial API agreement. Email Communications
If you choose to provide your email address at checkout, you are opting in to receive occasional updates about new tools and services from Heldword. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send or by contacting us at support@heldword.com. We will not send advertising, sell your address, or contact you beyond what you agreed to.
Intellectual Property
All rights to the Service, its design, and underlying technology are owned by Peraven LLC. You retain full ownership of the information you provide. The generated obituary is yours to use for personal purposes — publication, printing, sharing. You may not resell or commercially redistribute generated content. Peraven LLC reserves the right to terminate access and pursue recovery of fees for any use of the Service that violates these Terms, including commercial redistribution of generated content.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided as-is. Peraven LLC makes no guarantees that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any generated content will meet your expectations. AI-generated output may vary and should always be reviewed and verified before use.
Service Availability
The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control, including third-party service interruptions, maintenance, or technical failures. Peraven LLC is not liable for service interruptions or loss of in-progress content. If you experience a service disruption during active use, contact us at support@heldword.com and we will work to assist you.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Peraven LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Erie County, Pennsylvania.
